Four abandoned cars were found on Tuesday in Doral by a crew of divers working with the Miami-Dade and Doral police departments. Around 9:30 a.m., the operation began in the commercial district west of the Miami International Airport and north of the Dolphin Expressway. and finished around 4:30 p.m.
According to Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez, “We don’t discount the fact that these vehicles could be tied to any crime, and our detectives are prepared for that.”
The first vehicle that the divers assisted in recovering was a stolen 2002 Nissan Altima, according to MDPD spokesperson Detective Alvaro Zabaleta, who was on the site.

After the divers discovered a Cadillac from the 1980s, Zabaleta remarked, “There are very old vehicles.” When they “received information of several dozen vehicles submerged,” close to the intersection of Northwest 13 Terrace and 89 Court, Zabaleta said the search and recovery effort began.
Two strong wires were attached to the sides of the submerged automobiles, neon orange inflatables were placed on top of them by the divers, and a tow truck driver dragged the green-painted vehicles out of the water. The process involved Roadway Inc., a Miami-Dade-based contractor with a focus on towing and transportation.
According to detectives, anyone with information regarding the case is urged to contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-8477.
