Gunfire erupted in a northeast Charlotte neighborhood on Saturday night, leaving one male victim dead and another in the hospital, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Just before 7 o’clock, according to the police, they arrived at the scene on Turtle Point Road. Both victims had already been treated at a hospital after being driven there in a private vehicle. While one victim passed away, the other only sustained minor injuries.

Although detectives are still trying to piece together the events leading up to the shooting, CMPD Maj. Ryan Jackson claimed that two groups of persons had engaged in some sort of conflict before the shooting. Officers were canvassing the area and requesting from locals any surveillance video that might be helpfully shared.
Anyone with information is urged to call the CMPD or contact Crime Stoppers to provide it in an anonymous manner.
The homicide committed in the community in northeast Charlotte would not be the only one that night. A little over an hour later, CMPD reported that a second investigation had begun within the University City region, roughly five miles away.
