Fentanyl Suspected in 8 Overdose Deaths in 2 Days in Portland

Dr*g overdoses, most likely including fentanyl, are suspected in the de@ths of eight persons in Portland over the past two days, the Portland Police Bureau reported late Sunday, May 14, night. Officials say the de@ths occurred around the city between 11:38 a.m. on Friday, May 12, and 4:31 p.m.

Officials with the Portland Police Department’s Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit have stated that consumers “believed they were ingesting c0caine, but that it was a blend of cocaine and fentanyl or possibly pure powdered fentanyl.”

Authorities have issued a strong warning to anyone who uses a recent batch of “purported c0caine” due to its extraordinary potency.

An unidentified man was found de@d in a grassy area at W. Burnside and NW 8th. A 69-year-old man was found in an apartment on NW Naito Parkway. A 49-year-old man and a 37-year-old man were found in an apartment on NE Sandy Boulevard, and an unidentified person was located on North Hartman Street.
