After her summer vacation, five-year-old Birdie from Portland tragically perished in a car accident last week while visiting her grandparents in Idaho.
Sarah Abbott and Scott Howell, Birdie’s parents, are devastated by her demise, and one of her brothers suffers from seeing the event.
She eagerly anticipated the upcoming weeks, which featured Birdie’s birthday and the start of first grade. According to a GoFundMe set up on their behalf, her parents are now planning a funeral in place of those joyful times.
She was a great goofball, a social butterfly, and unique to everyone she encountered. She wore gowns while hiking, had a lisp, and was kindhearted, according to Birdie’s uncle, John Abbott. “Loss is all around us, but there’s something weighty about an unplanned, tragic, stupid accident to a dear girl who was a light in the world,”
Portlanders support Birdie’s family financially and have welcomed them with open arms. In only one day, more than $17,000 has been raised in the young girl’s honor.
Her family members can use GoFundMe as a general fund to pay for therapy, meal delivery, house cleaning services, and other costs as they prepare to say farewell to her.
On Friday, the accident occurred close to Birdie’s grandparents’ home, roughly 30 minutes north of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
