A woman from Atlanta has filed a complaint against Popeye’s and several of the staff members at the restaurant she visited in September.
For her kids’ dinner, Denetra Dawson claims she went to the Popeye’s on Cleveland Avenue. She claims that because her order was incorrect, she went through the drive-through to get it corrected, but claims that the staff there didn’t pay attention to her.
Dawson claims that as soon as she came up to the window, staff members started shouting at her for slowing down the timed drive-through.
Then one of the staff members left the building, unlocked Dawson’s passenger door, entered her car, and started attacking her. The worker allegedly tore her hair out of her scalp, creating a sizable bald spot, according to Dawson.
The three attackers were manager Tenister Evans, her sister, and her daughter, according to the police. The identities of the other two workers are unknown.

Attorney Mawuli Davis claimed, “They recovered and saw her braid that they tore out and said we tore that ‘B’s’ hair out of her head.”
“My identity was taken. I was proud of my hair,” remarked Dawson. I didn’t even believe I would return to my children.
A spokesperson for Popeye’s Restaurants issued the following statement:
“We have absolutely no tolerance for violence of any kind in Popeyes restaurants. The franchisee of this restaurant confirmed the incident took place in September 2022, and the employees involved were immediately terminated. We cannot share any additional details as there is an active lawsuit related to this incident.”
All three of the ladies were accused with violence, but Evans was also accused of obstructing an officer.
