New Hampshire Nurse and Child Kidnapped in Haiti, Nonprofit Says

According to the non-profit she works for, a nurse from New Hampshire and her child was allegedly abducted in Haiti on Thursday. On the morning of July 27, close to the El Tio Haiti campus in Port au Prince, Alix Dorsainvil, and her child were abducted, according to the religious humanitarian organization.

“Alix is a deeply compassionate and loving person who considers Haiti her home and the Haitian people her friends and family. Alix has worked tirelessly as our school and community nurse to bring relief to those who are suffering as she loves and serves the people of Haiti in the name of Jesus,” said the nonprofit in a statement on its website.

Sandro Dorsainvil, the director of the company, is married to Alix, who works as the community health nurse for the team.

‘I’m Alix,’ I said. In a video introducing herself on the organization’s website, Dorsainvil states, “I’m a nurse originally from New Hampshire, but I currently reside in Haiti.” Sandro asked me to visit the school to provide nursing care for a few of the children. That was a significant requirement, he claimed.

The tweet below verifies the news:

The U.S. Department of State has issued a travel warning for Haiti, advising Americans already there to evacuate because of fears of kidnapping.

“Kidnapping is widespread, and victims regularly include U.S. citizens. Kidnappers may use sophisticated planning or take advantage of unplanned opportunities, and even convoys have been attacked. Kidnapping cases often involve ransom negotiations and U.S. citizen victims have been physically harmed during kidnappings. Victim’s families have paid thousands of dollars to rescue their family members.” said the travel advisory in part.

According to the mission statement of the nonprofit organization, El Roi Haiti “exists to raise up Haitian leaders who will strengthen families, restore relationships, and build healthy communities that function according to God’s design and purpose.”

In order to protect Alix and her child, the group also urged that no one speculate about the issue on social media.
