According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon, a former nurse for the Oregon Department of Corrections has been found guilty of s*xually abusing nine female prisoners.
Tony Daniel Klein, 38, of Clackamas County, Oregon, was found guilty on Tuesday of 17 counts of s*xually assaulting his victims and depriving them of their constitutional protection against cruel and unusual punishment as well as four charges of lying under oath.
In accordance with court records, Klein served as a nurse at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility between 2010 and 2018, engaging with female inmates who needed medical attention. According to authorities, Klein allegedly used his position to s*xually attack or have extramarital affairs with persons who were supposed to be his patients.
The D.A.’s Office said in a statement on Tuesday that Klein frequently had alone time with his victims and made excuses for it, including medical rooms, janitors’ closets, or hiding behind privacy curtains, to allegedly reinforce his control over them.

Tony Klein took advantage of the inherent vulnerability of women in detention by abusing his position of power. Additionally, he persuaded his victims that they were powerless to stop or disclose his abuse, according to Natalie Wight, U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon.
Without the bravery and tenacity of these ladies and the commitment of our colleagues at the FBI and Civil Rights Division, this verdict would not have been achievable. Klein will be given a sentence on October 17 and might receive a life term if found guilty.
