30 Haitian Migrants Arrive in Portland, Authorities Investigating

More than 30 Haitians who came to Jamaica illegally on Monday afternoon are being processed by the local authorities.

According to reports, at about 1:40 pm, a boat carrying the migrants arrived on Boston Beach in Portland.

The Portland Police Division’s Superintendent Lloyd Darby confirmed this to Radio Jamaica News, saying that plans are being made to give the Haitians housing and medical care.

He claimed that there are 24 men, 5 women, 5 girls, and 3 boys in the gang.

Since the beginning of this year, eight further unauthorized Haitian immigrants have been discovered in Portland.
