Portland police say the adult son of a woman who died after being struck with a baseball bat now faces more serious charges. The incident occurred early Thursday evening (22 June) in the 1300 block of NE 68th, according to authorities.
Police were called to a report of an assault in the 1300 block of Northeast 68th Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Kathy S. Green was transported to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Her death was reported to authorities on Saturday. She was 64 years old.
Her son, Austin K. Green-Yurick, remained at the scene and assisted law enforcement in their investigation. The 32-year-old was reportedly booked into the Multnomah County Jail on three separate domestic violence offenses, including attempted murder, assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.

As a result of her passing away, the accusations against him were upgraded from attempted murder to murder in the second degree. The investigation is still ongoing.
