A tragic incident unfolded at the Rexford Bench boat launch near Eureka, Montana, where two men lost their lives in a shooting being investigated as a murder-suicide. The authorities responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, as per The Missoulian.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office revealed that a dispute erupted between 40-year-old Eric Newman, an Oregon resident, and 51-year-old Christopher Foster, from Kalispell, Montana, while they were loading boats at the boat launch.

According to the sheriff’s office, as Newman attempted to back his car down the ramp, Foster allegedly drew a handgun and shot him. Newman wounded, managed to retreat to the parking area, where he was later discovered in his vehicle with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Tragically, both men succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Responding to the incident were the Eureka Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol agents, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Eureka Volunteer Ambulance Department. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to understand the circumstances that led to this devastating outcome.
