Carjacking Suspects Arrested After High-Speed Chase on Skyline Boulevard

The Oakland Police Department reported on Thursday that many people had been arrested in relation to a string of carjackings. In relation to carjackings, including a recent occurrence on Skyline Boulevard, “multiple individuals” were detained.

On July 26, OPD officers working out of the Violent Crime Operations Center found a man wanted in relation to the attempted carjacking. The suspect fled as officers attempted to halt his car in the 2600 block of East 12th Street.

Officers used the OPD helicopter to help them chase the suspect all the way to San Leandro. Three passengers exited the car and ran off on foot. The VCOC officers safely took them into custody, according to the police.

Here is a clip of the incident:

The three people detainedβ€”two males and a male juvenileβ€”all resided in Oakland. The accused are also believed to have been involved in other armed carjackings in:

  • Tompkins Avenue District
  • Crestmont District
  • Neighborhoods around Piedmont Avenue Southeast, Skyline-Hillcrest Estates, and Sequoyah Heights

Despite arrests, police said the probe is still open. As part of this case, other search warrants have also been issued.
