The body of a 2-year-old who vanished in a flash flood in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, a few days ago was found on Friday in the Delaware River.
According to authorities, two-year-old Matilda “Mattie” Sheils was located just after 5 p.m. and recognized based on her physical characteristics and the outfit she was last seen wearing, according to reports. The coroner’s office will do an official autopsy on Saturday, and an official identification will be made at that time, according to officials.
On July 16, Mattie and her 9-month-old brother Conrad Sheils were washed away in a flash flood along with their mother. On Wednesday, bad weather interrupted search attempts for the youngsters, according to officials.
Police will resume their underwater search on Saturday as they continue to look for Conrad.
