1 Killed in Crash on Highway 30 Near Rainier

In Columbia County, a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 resulted in the death of one individual. Oregon State Police said a driver passed away early Tuesday morning (June 20)Β after colliding head-on with another vehicle on Highway 30 in Columbia County.

At approximately 5:16 a.m., the Oregon State Police responded to the accident site on Highway 30 at milepost 41.Β  The preliminary investigation conducted by the Oregon State Police indicates that a brown Honda CR-V driven eastbound by Jason Ray Bennett, 34, of Clatskanie, crossed the centerline for an unknown reason.

Upon entering the westbound lane, the brown Honda CR-V collided head-on with a white 2022 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Deer Island resident Gregory Alan Woodall Jr, 50.

Approximately 4.5 hours of road closures occurred during the on-site investigation. OSP was assisted at the accident site by Columbia River Fire & Rescue, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
