“Get Ready To Dive In: Portland’s Outdoor Pools Open On June 21 With FREE Swim Sessions!”

The seven outdoor pools run by Portland Parks & Recreation will open for the summer on Wednesday, June 21. The pools outside will be open until August 27. On the website for the parks office, people can find out when and where they can swim.

Along with its other programs, the Parks Local Option Levy will allow all public pools to have free swim times once a week. Portland Parks said it was part of their “Summer Free For All.”

Portland Culture & Livability Commissioner Dan Ryan said:

“The Parks Local Option Levy has allowed PP&R to ramp up staffing to once again offer a variety of recreation programs.”

“That includes swim activities at all City pools and the popular Summer Free For All. I’m delighted to see the Levy continue to provide such a wonderful quality of life for Portlanders.”

The Bureau also started its first summer season at the Ida B. Wells-Barnett Pool, which was renamed after the journalist and civil rights leader who was black. Wilson Pool used to be there.
