On Thursday, an Oregon man pled guilty to two federal hate crime charges related to an incident where he attempted to run down three individuals with his automobile last year in Boise.

Matthew Allen Leigh, 31, stated in his plea deal that he committed three further anti-LGBTQ+ offences in Boise in 2022 and assaulted a person at the grocery store after Leah insulted him.
According to a news statement from the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho, Untreated mental illness may result in up to four years in prison for Leigh. She would also have to spend at least three years on supervised release while under the supervision of a psychiatrist. He’ll have to make restitution to the aggrieved parties as well.

After her coworker, a security guard at the library, stepped in, Leigh left the building and proceeded to the parking garage. When the security guard approached him, Leigh attempted to get into a car and drive at high speed in an attempt to kill him. The guard leapt over the barrier without getting wounded.
According to court documents, Leigh made a homophobic threat and slur toward two women he thought were lesbians in the parking lot of Kathryn Albertson Park just a few days later. Leah speeds at the people in his car on purpose. They were able to get off the road in time, but one of their vehicles was struck.
