Arleen Sorkin Career

Following her education, the actress began her career in cabaret as a part of the comedy trio The High-Heeled Women, alongside Mary Fulham, Tracey Berg, and Cassandra Danz, in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

She performed in a number of clubs and theaters, exhibiting her witty and vivacious personality, which would become a trademark throughout her life and career.

One of Sorkin’s most memorable characters was Calliope Jones on Days of Our Lives, which she played from 1984 until 1990, with several comeback appearances in 1992, 2001, 2006, and 2010.

For her outstanding portrayal of Jones, Arleen Sorkin got two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (in 1988 and 1989).

Fans of the show will recall that Calliope Jones was an eccentric fashion designer and wedding planner who had a stormy romance with Eugene Bradford (played by John de Lancie).

She was also acquainted with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), with whom she was regularly involved in many adventures and mysteries.
