She didn’t make much money, but she always wanted what was best for her son. Mike’s mother also had to deal with racism and separation from her family and other people in the neighborhood because Mike’s father was black.

Mike McDaniel: From Football Dreams to Dolphins Head Coach
Mike McDaniel spent most of his 17 years as a coach working as an offensive assistant. From 2017 to 2021, he coached with the Houston Texans, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, and San Francisco 49ers.
His dream was always to work in football, and he set this goal when he was a young player. He even put a note under his helmet that said, “I will be in the NFL.”
In February 2022, the Miami Dolphins chose McDaniel to be their 14th head coach.

His first big win as a head coach happened in September 2022 when the Dolphins played against the New England Patriots. The Dolphins won 20-7.
McDaniel became only the second Dolphins head coach to win his first game in charge of Miami since Nick Saban in 2005. He also made history by being the first rookie head coach to win the first game of a season for the team.
