Following a gunshot in Southeast Portland early on Monday, two people are in jail after an arduous search lasting many hours, according to Portland police. A police order requiring nearby households to take shelter has been removed.
A police officer traveling through the area just after one morning observed two people shooting at an apartment building close to Southeast Holgate Boulevard and Southeast 112th Avenue. The policeman screamed for help as the two escaped on foot. Both the Crisis Negotiation Team and the Specialized Emergency Reaction Team responded. According to Portland police, the K9 and Air Support Unit responded. Residents were told to lock their doors and windows and stay indoors.
Police told KGW that they had captured a guy and a child they thought might have been involved in the shooting. According to Portland police, they were discovered inside the perimeter that the officers had blocked off. Police in Portland are determining whether or not to file charges against the two people who have not been identified.
The Portland police said there are no known injuries.

During the search, police blocked off a section of Southeast Boise Street and Southeast Holgate Boulevard; however, the lanes reopened by 6:30 a.m.
