Motorcyclist Dies in Crash, Prompts Police Chase

On Saturday night in north Portland, a motorcyclist was killed in a collision, and police pursued another rider who drove through the scene of the investigation.

Just after 11:30 p.m., according to PPB. On Saturday, police from the North Precinct and the traffic division responded to a crash near North Marine Drive and North Bybee Lake Road as part of a street racing assignment. When they arrived, they discovered an SUV that had been struck by a motorcycle. The rider had passed away.

Officers called for paramedics to treat the two occupants of the SUV. They claimed that the street racing that was taking on at North Marine Drive and the I-5 interchange halting all traffic was to blame for the ambulance’s significant delay. When approaching from the west, the ambulance had to take a detour. The two SUV occupants received treatment on the spot but suffered just minor wounds.

The tweet below confirms the news:

According to police, a motorcycle rider avoided the police-imposed street restriction during the course of the investigation. The North Precinct commander came dangerously close to being struck by two officers when the biker raced through the scene of the inquiry. A traffic cop attempted to pursue him, but he continued on.
