The National Weather Service of Portland said a tornado and a waterspout were recently seen in the area. The tornado hit Linn County, Oregon, while the waterspout was seen in Camas, Washington, further to the north.
Sunday afternoon, an alert pilot said a tornado hit the ground about a mile north of Daniels Field in Linn County, close to Interstate 5. People who worked at the nearby Olsen Run Winery food truck were smart enough to use their cell phones to record the storm. From where the food truck was, the tornado’s path was 50 to 100 yards north of Diamond Hill Road and headed east toward I-5.

The National Weather Service says the tornado was on the ground for over a minute. But people who saw it said it started to weaken as it got closer to I-5. The good news is that this weather event didn’t cause any damage. It was thought that the wind speed was between 65 and 85 miles per hour, which made the tornado an EF-0. The length of its route was about 500 yards.
The local news station KGW got a video of the storm from Cassidy Sedore, who works at the food truck. Kirk, who also saw what happened, agreed with Sedore that the storm didn’t seem to have caused any damage in the area. A few people were there when the storm hit, but they were safe because they stayed in their cars at charging stations nearby.
Another weather event and the storm were reported earlier in the day. Around 9:30 a.m., people in Camas saw a cloud that looked like a funnel and was moving. After a close look, meteorologists could say it was a waterspout.
Recent events are a good sign that the area is prone to bad weather. It was good that neither the tornado nor the waterspout caused significant damage or deaths.
