Four of the seven children who escaped from the Echo Glen Children’s Center in Snoqualmie on Sunday remain significant, and the King County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its hunt for them. They are all teenagers, ranging in age from 15 to 17.
Three of the seven runaway minors were apprehended near Burien on Sunday, May 27, afternoon, around 30 miles from the prison. Charles, a resident of Burien, found the news that the invaders had made it to his city all the more unsettling.
On Sunday night, after midnight, the juvenile allegedly attacked a night shift worker, took her possessions, and drove off in her white 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, according to the Washington State Department of Juvenile and Families.
The employees at Echo Glen notified the police. All other students were accounted for, and the campus was locked down. Maria, a local living close to Echo Glen, remarked,Β βIt happens more often than we would like, unfortunately.β On Sunday night in Vancouver, the stolen SUV was found at 9 o’clock.

Five juvenile inmates, including one with a prior murder conviction, escaped and stole a car in January 2022. The convicted killer was one of several who ran on Sunday. According to the DCYF, an independent investigation into the incident will be conducted by the Juvenile Rehabilitation Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), which is not part of the facility’s management.
“Echo Glen has enhanced its safety protocols, will assess whether protocols were followed, and assess the need for changes based on this incident alongside the CIRT,” the DCYF added.
