As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the cause of death for Evan Ellingson was determined to be an accidental overdose of fentanyl. On November 28, the story was confirmed to the outlet by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Following reports that the actor’s death was being probed for a probable drug overdose, the news has now been confirmed. According to a fresh report, officials found evidence that may indicate drug usage when they discovered his body in his house on November 6. He was 35 years old.
Evan Ellingson Cause of Death
Ellingson’s accidental overdose of fentanyl has been determined to be the official cause of death. On November 5, TMZ originally revealed that investigators were considering whether he may have overdosed on drugs.
Law authorities notified the publication that drugs had been found in Ellingson’s San Bernardino, California, residence. Ellingson’s test report was still waiting when Ellingson’s father revealed to the source that his son had previously battled drug addiction.

Abigail Breslin, the actor’s co-star in My Sister’s Keeper, was among the few celebs who opened up about his sudden passing.
Breslin captioned an emotional Instagram post:
“Evan Ellingson was a kind, funny, and extremely talented human being. He played my big brother in a film I did called My Sister’s Keeper,” “Evan was a genuinely thoughtful person who cared so much about turning in the best performance, which he accomplished. Some of his scenes in MSK still give me chills. He was also silly, funny, a prankster, a lover of Red Bull (I hated the smell of Red Bull), and he was energetic and the life of the party.”

“I didn’t keep in touch a lot with him after the film, but [Ellingson] always stayed in my mind as a wonderful and sweet soul, one I am grateful to have crossed paths with,” the Little Miss Sunshine actress said.
She wrote in her article, “Evan, I know heaven will welcome you with open arms.” Your time on this earth may have been devastatingly short. Your humor, exuberance, kindness, and bright light will linger forever. Sending you peace on your journey to the great beyond, and who knows … maybe one day, I’ll meet you in Montana. Xx, abster [sic],“
Breslin also took sure to note that “out of respect for his family, including his daughter,” speculation on the cause of Evan’s death should be avoided since “the details of his passing have not yet been released.”

Ellingson’s breakthrough role came in 2009 when he starred as Jesse Fitzgerald in the drama film My Sister’s Keeper, based on the novel by Jodi Picoult. He played the rebellious son of Sara (Cameron Diaz) and Brian (Jason Patric), and the brother of Kate (Sofia Vassilieva) and Anna (Abigail Breslin), who suffers from leukemia.
His performance was praised by critics and audiences alike, and he received a Teen Choice Award nomination for Choice Movie Breakout Male. He also gained recognition for his role as Kyle Harmon, the son of Lt. Horatio Caine (David Caruso), on the crime drama CSI: Miami.
He appeared in six episodes from 2006 to 2012, and his character arc involved him being accused of murder, joining the army, and reconciling with his father. His last acting project was in 2012 when he reprised his role as Kyle in the series finale of CSI: Miami.
