Jack Swamba, a 19-year-old who used to play hockey in high school and was the assistant captain of the team that won the state championship in 2021-2022, sadly passed away in a motorcycle crash on October 11, 2023, in East Lansing. Jack Swamba’s Accident: What Happened?
The accident happened at around 8:53 p.m. at the corner of Abbot Road and Lake Lansing Road. Early reports suggest that a motorcycle was going fast down Abbot Road, heading south, when it hit a car that was turning left onto Lake Road. Sadly, the person on the motorcycle didn’t survive.
Right now, we don’t know exactly what caused the accident. The East Lansing Police Department is looking into the incident to find out more about how this happened. We’ll have more information once the investigation is complete.

Remembering Jack Swamba
Jack Swamba was born on April 25, 2004. He was a 19-year-old who used to play hockey and was the assistant captain of his high school team at Detroit Catholic Central High School.
People loved him because he was always smiling. He did something amazing by getting a scholarship from the US Government for the Reserve Officersβ Training Corps (ROTC). This is a big deal and shows how smart and dedicated he was.
After that, he went to Michigan State University with a three-year Army ROTC Scholarship to keep studying. He was a real inspiration to a lot of people and a strong, admirable person. We’ll all miss him.
