This fall, moviegoers may expect to see the return of the Jigsaw Killer.
John Kramer, aka the Jigsaw Killer, travels to Mexico in search of a miracle treatment for cancer in “Saw X,” the tenth film in the popular horror franchise.
The movie’s official site says that after Kramer discovers that the cure is a hoax, “armed with a newfound purpose, John returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists” in his trademark bloody fashion.
There’s a claim on the website that it’s “the most chilling installment of the Saw franchise yet” and that it “explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s most personal game.”
All the information you need to see the new “Saw” movie is below.
Why Does Saw X Exist?
For those who don’t believe it, Saw X is both a prequel and a sequel. A prequel then? An interlude film? Here’s the Lionsgate-approved synopsis, though:
Set between the events ofΒ SawΒ andΒ Saw II, a sick and desperateΒ John KramerΒ travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancerβonly to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged and ingenious traps.
Saw X Release Date
The original release date for Saw X was around Halloween in 2023, but due to scheduling conflicts, the film will instead be in theaters on Friday, September 29.
If you want to watch Saw around Halloween, don’t worry; there are plenty of other scary movies coming out that month, including Five Nights at Freddy’s and The Exorcist Believer. Scary Christmas is the perfect time to watch all of your favorite Halloween films.
Lionsgate unveiled the Saw X trailer on July 31, 2023. In the preview, we see John Kramer making the trek to Mexico City for what he believes will be a life-saving procedure. In the second part of the trailer, set to The Hollies’ “The Air That I Breathe,” we see John get his revenge on the con artists who pretended to be doctors by setting up some additional traps. At the trailer’s close, we see Shawnee Smith’s much-loved Amanda Young show up again.
Seen X Perform: Who Else is Expected to Show Up in Saw 10?
Jigsaw himself, Tobin Bell, will be back for Saw 10. On July 21, the first official screenshot of Bell’s reappearance from the upcoming sequel was released via Saw’s social channels, giving fans a first glimpse at Bell’s comeback.

Mark Burg and Oren Koules, the show’s producers, were quoted as saying, “What a thrill to be reuniting with Tobin” in One Take News. His portrayal of John Kramer is a major factor in what has made the Seinfeld series so popular, and Kramer himself plays a crucial role in this installment.
The original Amanda, Shawnee Smith (who previously appears in flashbacks in the other Saw films), will return.
