The Boy and the Heron Trailer, What’s It About?

When it came to promoting Hayao Miyazaki’s final picture for Studio Ghibli, the studio took a bold gamble.

The film, titled How Do You Live in Japan, will be released in North American theaters as The Boy And The Heron. Despite the film’s availability in Japanese theaters, Ghibli has not published any trailers to showcase the film’s footage; nonetheless, a new video has appeared to help viewers better comprehend Miyazaki’s concluding chapter.

There has been no official announcement regarding when The Boy And The Heron will be showing in theaters for Western anime lovers. Ghibli hopes that North American fans won’t have to wait too much longer for it now that they know it will appear this year with the help of the business GKIDS.

Box office successes for anime films like “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train,” “Jujutsu Kaisen 0,” and “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” attest to the genre’s growing popularity in the West. It would be fascinating to watch how The Boy And The Heron fares as a new excursion, given that Ghibli has maintained re-releasing its classics in North American theaters.

Trailer for “The Boy and the Heron”

This is the first trailer for How Do You Live, also known as The Boy And The Heron, and it’s yet another unexpected twist from Ghibli. This is Hayao Miyazaki’s last film for Studio Ghibli, and the trailer features no new material while providing a plot summary. This introduction does a great job of dissecting the plot of the Ghibli film for those who want to know as much as possible before seeing it.

Thanks in part to pamphlets given out to Japanese moviegoers, images from How Do You Live have made their way online. In keeping with local custom, Ghibli was able to provide a book including in-depth character studies from the current anime feature to theatergoers in the country.

The Boy and the Heron: What’s It About?

The Boy and the Heron What's It About

“Through encounters with his friends and uncle, follows a teenage boy’s psychological development,” the synopsis reads. After discovering an abandoned tower in his new town, he is transported to a mystical realm where he meets a talking grey heron.

Miyazaki’s first directing effort in a decade is The Boy and the Heron (or How Do You Live), which he also wrote. My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Ponyo are just a few of the timeless films he directed.

Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda (The Backwater), Aimyon (singer), Yoshino Kimura (Confessions), Shhei Hino (As Long as We Both Shall Live), Ko Shibasaki (47 Ronin), and Takuya Kimura (Howl’s Moving Castle) are just some of the voice actors who lend their talents to the hand-drawn animated picture.

Toshio Suzuki, the man who started Studio Ghibli, is the show’s producer. The film’s score was composed by Joe Hisaishi, a frequent collaborator of Miyazaki’s, and the theme song, “Spinning Globe,” was written and sung by Kenshi Yonezu, a major figure in Japan’s pop music industry.
