In the past few years, Portland has been trying to fight crime, but in 2022, the city had a record number of murders. A new study found that Camas, Wash. is one of the safest suburbs in the U.S. The company looked at how safe each of the 370 suburbs of the 100 most significant towns in the country is and how much each one costs.
To compare each city, researchers looked at the physical crime rate, the property crime rate, the number of people who died in car accidents, the number of people who died from drug poisoning, and the number of people who drank too much.

The crime figures came from neighborhoodscout.com and the FBI’s 2021 Uniform Crime Reporting database. The health figures came from the 2022 county health rankings. When the numbers for each neighbourhood were added up, Camas came in 18th.

The study found that Great Falls, Virginia, is not only the safest suburb in the country but also has the highest median family income of the 35 safest suburbs, at $250,000.
The study found that, in general, Indianapolis areas are the safest and most affordable. Regarding safety, Carmel, Fishers, and Noblesville came in second, fourth, and fifth, respectively.
SmartAsset’s numbers show that the few heavy drinkers live in the suburbs of Utah and Oklahoma. No other suburb in Oregon, Washington, or California made the list of the top 20 safest areas.
