Gov. Tina Kotek (D-Oregon) was in Corvallis on Thursday, 23 March 2023. She went to the Hewlett Packard plant as part of her One Oregon Listening tour.
As the first wildfire season for the governor was coming up, we asked her what she would do to get ready.
Kotek says she will keep putting money into preparing for wildfires to help limit the damage they cause.
“I’m continuing to make sure we invest in preparing communities to be prepared if the worst happens,” said Kotek.
“Making sure we have immediate emergency response when a fire does erupt, because if we are getting at it quicker than we won’t see as much damage,” said Gov. Kotek. “We saw that last fire season, we want to continue those investments.”
Since wildfires have been getting worse over the past few years, these investments are more than necessary.

During her first year in office, Gov. Kotek will go on the “One Oregon Listening Tour,” which will take her to every county in the state. The goal is to build partnerships across the state and address problems with homelessness, mental health, and education.
