Cloud, best known for his role as local drug dealer Fezco “Fez” O’Neill on HBO’s Euphoria, passed away at the young age of 25. He told Variety in August 2022 that it “bothers” him when people draw parallels between himself and his character Fezco. “It bothers me,” he admitted. Whenever I hear, “When people are like, ‘It must be so easy! You get to go in and be yourself.’ I’m like, ‘Why don’t you go and do that?’ It’s not that simple. I brought a lot to the character. You can believe what you want. It ain’t got nothing to do with me.”

He continued, “I hope I did a good job. I ain’t tryna be like no one-trick pony. But if I did shit, then it is what it is. I don’t know how to act. I just do it. I’m in rooms with people that have been acting their whole life, and I’m like, ‘Why am I here?’ I got impostor-type shit.” Unfortunately, we’ll never see his magic again on-screen. How did Angus Cloud pass away? The family of Angus Cloud confirmed his death to TMZ first. After the fact, Variety also reported the same thing. No official cause of death was stated, but TMZ later reported that Cloud’s mother called 911 on the morning of July 31, 2023, to report a “possible overdose,” and that her son did not have a pulse when paramedics arrived.

His death was officially confirmed upon arrival. Following their trip to Ireland to bury Angus’s father, “a source close to the family tells us Angus had been battling severe suicidal thoughts,” the website stated.

The statement provided by the family indicated he was having a hard time adjusting to the recent death of his father. Cloud apparently recently got back to Oakland after visiting his father’s grave in Ireland.

“It is with the deepest sorrow that we must announce the passing of a really remarkable person. The statement said, “Angus was unique in so many ways: as an artist, as a friend, as a brother, and as a son.

A representative for HBO later added in a statement obtained by Deadline, “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”

The rising star actor broke his skull as a teenager when he fell into a construction hole, resulting in the scar on his head, which he unveiled in 2022. “I woke up 12 hours later at the bottom,” he said to Variety. “I was trapped. I eventually climbed out after — I don’t know how long. It was hella hard to climb out, because my skull was broken, but my skin wasn’t, so all the bleeding was internal, pressing up against my brain. But they wasn’t gonna find me down there. I found myself. Or God found me, whatever you want to call it.”

He continued: “But I didn’t feel no pain,” he says. “I was in survival mode, you feel me?” After he escaped, his vision blurry, Cloud took the bus to his mother’s house. “Because I was a kid! I was 14 or 15. She thought I was on drugs, ’cause my pupils was hella dilated. I was trying to tell her what happened, but I could only start a sentence — I couldn’t finish it. So I was like, ‘I’m just gonna go sleep in my bed.’”
