The release of the new Adam Sandler picture Hustle on Netflix on June 8th sparked quite a commotion, and the movie shot straight to the top of Netflix’s list of the Top 10 movies.
The film follows Stanley Sugerman (Sandler), a basketball scout who has fallen on hard times, as he secretly recruits an incredible player from overseas to play for the Philadelphia 76ers.

You would be very much mistaken if you assumed Hustle was based on a factual story. A well-written and performed work of fiction. Stanley Sugerman (Adam Sandler) and Bo Cruz (Juancho HernΓ‘ndez) are fictional characters, as are the scout and coach for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Spanish streetball player, respectively. Contrary to popular belief, both the Philadelphia 76ers and Juancho HernangΓ³mez are real NBA teams. HernangΓ³mez presently plays for the Utah Jazz.
Trae Young, Jordan Clarkson, Khris Middleton, Aaron Gordon, Kyle Lowry, Seth Curry, Luka Doncic, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, and many more current and former NBA basketball players make appearances and play themselves in the film.

Just What Goes Down in Hustle?
In Hustle, Sandler plays the role of Stanley Sugerman, a basketball scout for the Philadelphia 76ers who is down on his luck because he has prioritized his career over his personal life.
Stanley has spent weeks at a time away from his wife Teresa (Queen Latifah) and daughter Jordan (Jordan Hull) during the past nine years, and he has missed all of her birthdays.
Stanley is impressed by Bo Cruz’s (Juancho Hernangomez) innate talent during a scouting trip to Spain. Bo is trying to help support his mother and young daughter.
Stanley convinces Bo to move to Philadelphia so that he can try out for the NBA, but the 76ers’ owner, Ben Foster, is against the idea.
Stanley believes Bo is on the cusp of becoming an athletic celebrity, so he secretly trains him for an all-or-nothing shot at stardom.
