Aretha Franklin’s Husband
Aretha Franklin was married two times. She first married her manager, Ted White, in 1961 when she was 18 years old. They divorced in 1969. Then, in 1978, she married actor Glynn Turman, but they divorced in 1984.

Aretha had four sons. Her first son, Clarence, was born in 1955 and named after her father. It was found out in 2019 that his father was Edward John, who was also the father of her second son, Edward Derone Franklin, born in 1957.
Her third son, Ted White Jr., was born in 1964 with her first husband. He is now known as Teddy Richards. Her fourth son, Kecalf Cunningham, was born in 1970, and his father was Aretha’s road manager, Ken Cunningham.

Aretha Franklin was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1942. Her father was a famous Baptist preacher named C. L. Franklin, and her mother was Barbara Sigger Franklin. Aretha started singing gospel music at her father’s church in Detroit. She was friends with Berry Gordy Jr. and Smokey Robinson, who were her neighbors.
People noticed Aretha’s talent when she was very young. She made several gospel recordings and got her first recording contract with Columbia Records. In 1961, when she was 19 years old, she released her first album called ‘Aretha: With The Ray Bryant Combo.’

Not much is known about Ted White’s life and work lately. He is now 90 years old.
In 2019, the Detroit Free Press reported that Ted White was trying to get a share of her estate after she died the year before.
