After an hours-long pursuit and standoff in Atwater Village, a guy driving a stolen Los Angeles Department of Water and Power SUV was apprehended.
Police responded to a report of a dangerous weapon attack, and a chase started when the car didn’t stop. The pursuit stopped close to the crossroads of Edenhurst Avenue and Colorado Boulevard.
The driver there resisted getting out of the car.
The theft of the SUV’s specifics was not immediately known.
The individual was seen gesturing toward the police in a video from New Chopper 4.
The man slammed the officers’ cars, causing at least three injuries. At a press conference, LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said that the man was shot in the leg by the police. One cop was sent to a hospital in stable condition, while two officers received treatment on the spot.
“An extremely dangerous ordeal with our people’s lives & other jeopardized by an apparent crazed individual,” LAPD Chief Michel Moore tweeted. “Tremendous work by members of LAPD SWAT to safety resolve.”
