The Portland Police Bureau said that two persons were murdered and two others were hurt in a multi-car collision in Southeast Portland on Thursday night.

Around 9:34 p.m., police say they arrived at Southeast Powell Boulevard near Southeast 63rd Avenue and discovered two bodies. According to authorities, a third person was taken by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries, while a fourth person was taken with less serious wounds.

While PPB conducts its investigation, Southeast Powell Boulevard is completely closed to all traffic between Southeast 60th Avenue and Southeast 72nd Avenue. According to officials, this brings the total number of traffic-related fatalities in Portland to 40 since the year 2023 began, including nine this month.

The names of the individuals involved have not been made public, and the crash’s exact reason is yet unknown. After a 3-day search, rescue personnel find the climber’s body at North Sister.
