On Saturday, a cyclist from Portland was killed in a sad accident in Polk County. Adam Joy, 55, was riding when he lost control and fell onto the road, where he was hit by a car, according to the Oregon State Police.
The incident occurred at around 11:30 in the morning on Highway 221 around milepost 11.5. The local police department arrived at the site quickly to begin their investigation. Robert Weeks, 47, was the driver of a 2021 Ford F-350 that was traveling south when the collision happened, according to their results. Joy, on his bicycle, was headed in the same direction at the same time.
Tragedy struck when Joy lost balance and fell into the road in front of Weeks’ vehicle. Weeks tried to slow down, but he still crashed into Joy. Joy was declared dead at the site of the accident, and the Oregon State Police verified her death.
