On Tuesday(30 May 2023), sheriff’s officials announced that an Oregon man had been detained for weapons possession after he was allegedly seen with a firearm inside a Tahoe City cinema.
A 911 caller reported that a man was strolling about the Cobblestone Movie Theater with a gun drawn shortly after 1 p.m. on May 19, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers stopped 42-year-old Thomas Alexander for speeding and found a loaded weapon on his hip, they claimed. Two more loaded handguns and a rifle with four high-capacity magazines were reportedly discovered by deputies during a check of his car.
They further claim that numerous pill bottles and other medications were uncovered in the car.
Officers learned during their investigation that the suspect had asked numerous times when people typically arrived at the cinema.
There was no official word on whether or not there was a mass shooting threat from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Alexander was arrested for several other crimes, including illegally carrying a loaded firearm in public, illegally possessing and transferring a rifle, possessing a controlled narcotic, and more.
