On Thursday, May 25 morning, someone in a car in Southeast D.C. fired shots at another vehicle waiting at a red light. A woman was taken to the hospital but is in good spirits.
A ShotSpotter report of eight shots fired prompted DC police to respond to the 800 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast, around 7 a.m. After searching the area, responding police discovered a blue Ford Fusion with the engine running and numerous bullet holes in the passenger side. There was no sign of the driver, and the door was wide open.

At the corner of Chesapeake Street Southeast and Southern Avenue Southeast, the police continued their search and located a woman going south on the sidewalk. The woman told police that a red car pulled beside hers, opened fire and drove off.
