Memorial Day Services in Oregon and Brooklyn

Oregon and Brooklyn, New York communities are getting ready to hold memorial services for local war veterans on Memorial Day. The public is welcome to attend the Brooklyn Area Veterans Memorial annual program on Monday, May 29, at 9:30 a.m.

American Legion Post 160 Chairman Lyle Wanless will give opening remarks, Boy Scout Troop 350 and Cub Scout Troop 150 will recite the Pledge of Allegiance, Molly Wanless will sing “America the Beautiful,” Attorney and Vietnam veteran Daniel Krause will give the keynote address, the American Legion Post 160 will lay a wreath, the VFW Post 10272’s Color Guard Commander Oscar Larson will lead the firing squad. Misty Davis Johnson will play “Taps.”

According to a press release from the American Legion, “Please join us to honor our men and women that have given and continue to give to protect our nation and the Constitution so that we may have our freedoms and honor democracy.” “Many of our veterans have made sacrifices, and some have given the ultimate call of duty, which we will recognize.”
