A 17-year-old Oregon City Juvenile Was Arrested for the Fatal Tree Accident

An Oregon City teen (17 years old) was detained for illegally cutting down a tree in front of the city’s administration building earlier this month. The trunk of a golden rain tree was found in the parking lot outside the municipal hall on May 8.

Early that morning, at around 4 a.m., security footage from the area revealed two people, one of whom appeared to be holding a chainsaw. The moment the tree was cut down was not captured by surveillance cameras. On May 12, Captain David Edwins of the Oregon City Police Department reported that an anonymous tip led to an arrest.

Investigate these sources to have a better understanding of Oregon:

Police have recognized a 15-year-old kid as a suspect in the event, although he has not yet been taken into custody. The Oregonians do not publish their identities when minors are accused of crimes or infractions.

It is unclear why the tree was chainsawed, although Edwins speculated that intoxication played a role. The 17-year-old will be processed through the Clackamas County juvenile court system on a single count of criminal mischief in the second degree. Edwins concluded, “I think it’s just a case of teenagers being teenagers.”
