According to Chris Liedle, a Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, the incident occurred after the inmate attempted self-harm during a transfer. Once medical checks on the inmate and the three deputies are finished, the lockdown will be removed.

He also stated that the lockdown would remain in effect until more staff were available and the ad*lt in custody was sent to a different facility. The situation in Multnomah County’s j@ils is already precarious before this new occurrence. Two men have d!ed while held at those institutions in the past month.

On Saturday, May 13, corrections officers discovered 31-year-old Allen George Walker unresponsive in his cell. According to the medical examiner’s preliminary report, there was no indication of an overd0se, foul play, or su!cide.

The most up-to-date details about recent events in Portland are as follows:

Donovan Wood, 26, p@ssed away on May 2 despite attempts by correctional staff to revive him. The sheriff’s office did not disclose the cause of de@th, but a prosecutor urged the judge to drop the charges a few days later, citing that “he committed suicide in jail,” according to courtroom recordings.

Inmates shouldn’t be locked in the shower for long periods, as pointed out in a message sent out by the jail’s commander earlier this month. One of the deputies has been placed on indefinite leave.
