On Monday, May 15,Β morning, Portland Fire & Rescue was called out for a second time to Swan Island because a solvent pit had caught fire at a business.
BeforeΒ 10:45 a.m., a tweet from PF&R announced that “crews [were] back on Swan Island for a commercial fire” that had broken through the roof of a structure near North Fathom Street and North Basin Avenue. The fire was contained to the interior of the system and put out.

Photos from the scene reveal what seems like a section of roof that was burnt and covered in black soot, despite claims that the fire sprinkler system contained the blaze.
A picture taken inside the building shows puddles on the floor caused by the sprinklersβno word yet on casualties or the cause of the fire from the agency.

On Monday morning, a person fell roughly 100 feet from a boat and hurt their head, prompting a water rescue crew to come to Swan Island on the Willamette River. PF&R said they rushed the victim to the hospital with “significant injuries.” When more details become available, we will post an update.
