Portland’s Downtown Nordstrom Location Will Not Be Closing, the Company Said

A representative for Nordstrom has said that the company has no intentions to close either the downtown Portland full-line shop or the outlet Nordstrom Rack. When word spread that Nordstrom would depart downtown San Francisco, the Business Journal contacted the retailer. There were other inquiries to Nordstrom about the Portland location.

Grace Stearns, a spokeswoman for the company, said in an email that they were dedicated to servicing their clients in Portland and would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with local media outlets to spread the news that their downtown location would not be closing.

Nordstrom (NYSE: JWN) operates eight locations across its full-line and Rack formats in Oregon. It’s working on opening a Rack in Salem before the end of the year.

“We’ve made the difficult decision not to renew our leases atβ€―the San Francisco Centre Nordstrom store and our Market Street Rack store across the street,” Chief Stores Officer Jamie Nordstrom wrote of the store closures in San Francisco.

After a string of r0bberies and break-ins at its Pearl District location, outdoor gear giant REI announced in April that it will close the shop at 1405 N.W. Johnson St. in 2024.
