Authorities believe that a 73-year-old man from Lake Oswego lost control of his sports vehicle and was “airborne” when attempting to merge onto Interstate 5 in Washington County early on Saturday, May 06 morning. He was pronounced de@d at the scene.

At around 7:45 in the morning, David Coffman was driving south in a Dodge Viper when he “left the roadway at an angle, slid up an embankment, went airborne, and struck trees,” according to the Oregon State Police. It was determined that he had passed away at the site.

There were no other automobiles involved in the collision. Along with the Oregon State Police, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation made their way to the site.
