Two individuals were sh0t and injured in downtown Portland on Friday, May 05, at night, and the police are still looking for the perpetrators.
According to authorities, both victims of the incident at SW 12th and Columbia were taken by ambulance to a local hospital. One was hit in the chest, while the other was just scratched. The prognosis for both is good.
Haley Marcus and her boyfriend Terrence saidΒ they were chilling in their apartment in Southwest Portland when they heard a g*nsh0t, followed by many more.
According to Haley, “It was probably about 6 sh0ts right after, like, 6 more g*nshots, and they were just super-consecutive, like, ‘boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,'” After venturing outside, theyΒ have seen the two victims making their way up the street.
βHe had somebody with him that was helping him walk. And he just said, βCome on, letβs keep walking.β Thatβs all I got. Because they made it right past the corner before I could even see if he was alright or nothing,β Terrence said.
According to Haley, one is βkind of like hunching over walking, like, in this direction. And then when we just went up there to watch. They had, like, an ambulance and everything. So, weβre just guessing that that had to have been a victim of some sort.β
She said she dialed 911, but no one answered. βOf course, Iβm like, βI bet a billion people right now are trying to call the police.β And so, they got here quick enough, so hopefully they find whatever they need to find, and then hopefully the person is OK.β
While the city has made progress in reducing g*n violence, there is still a long way to go, according to the numbers.

The number of g*nsh0ts in Portland decreased by approximately 31% between January and March of 2023, according to figures compiled by the Portland Police Bureau. April and current-month May data are currently unavailable.
There are significantly more sh00tings at this time of year than in 2019-2020. One hundred two sh00tings through March of 2019 and 111 through March 2020.
