Oregon Again Misapplied Almost 1 Million in Covid Food Subsidies

More than a million dollars in food benefits during the COVID-19 outbreak that were accidentally distributed to the incorrect children must be recovered by the state of Oregon.

About 3,700 Oregon school children were given $1.32 million in federal Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT) payments in error. Still, the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) said on Friday, May 04, that it had reclaimed the funds. Approximately $1.46 million was disbursed in error.

Benefits were awarded wrongly to some of the same kids that got benefits incorrectly in 2021, the agency says, because of an error committed by Oregon’s P-EBT subcontractor. Eight million dollars in improperly distributed ODHS food aid was the result.
