A 19-year-old lady from Spokane Valley and two troopers from the Washington State Patrol were traveling westbound on Interstate 90 east of Broadway when the 19-year-old rear-ended the officers while driving at a high rate of speed, as stated by the Washington State Patrol. According to a statement released by the patrol, both Trooper Cadet Lawson and Trooper Cook wore their seatbelts throughout the incident. WSP could not determine whether or not the 19-year-old was wearing a seatbelt, so charges are still being considered for her.
Both cars were destroyed in the collision. While police investigated, westbound Interstate 90 was shut down at the Argonne exit for several hours.
