On April 30, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will shut down southbound I-5 across the Marquam Bridge’s lower deck for inspection. The federal government mandates biannual inspections of all bridges. The area will be closed from 10 p.m. on Sunday until 5 a.m. on Monday.
ODOT proposes these alternate alternative routes:
- Southbound I-5 through traffic should use I-405 south to cross the Fremont Bridge and rejoin I-5.
- If you’re coming from the west on I-84 and need to get to the southbound lanes of I-5, the best route is to take I-5 north to the Fremont Bridge, then take I-405 south until you reach the interchange with I-5.
