A man and woman in a car were sh0t at the corner of Northwest 17th Avenue and Irving Street on Friday, April 28, 2023.
Lory Caldwell and her daughter were watching TV in their home in Portland’s Northwest District at 11:20 p.m. on Friday when they heard loud bangs outside.
Caldwell said, “We must have heard five or six shots.” “We heard the woman yelling.”
Caldwell called the cops, and they got there quickly. She then told her husband,Β Stephen Caldwell,Β what had happened by calling him. He was coming back from Texas, where he had been at work.

“As expected, I got off the highway at the same time as the crowd of police,” he said.
Caldwell said he could see the car where a man and a woman had been sh0t. He saw that the driver was slouched over the wheel, he said. He watched as the cops and medical staff tried to save the man’s life, but he di*d at the scene.
Police said in a statement on Saturday that the woman was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

At 11:23 p.m., police went to the shooting scene at Northwest 17th Avenue and Irving Street. When they found the man and woman who had been sh0t, they gave them first aid until the paramedics arrived.
Before theΒ police arrived, the subject had already left. Lory Caldwell said she didn’t see anyone leave the scene.
