News anchor Don Lemon is leaving CNN, he and the cable network both said Monday, 24 April, 2023.
In a tweet, CNN said, “Don will always be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his work over the past 17 years.” “We hope the best for him and will cheer him on in his future plans.”
In a message made to his Twitter account, Lemon said that his agent told him that CNN had fired him on Monday morning.
“I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly,” Lemon said.
“I was never told that I wouldn’t be able to keep doing the work I loved at the network. It’s clear that there are bigger things going on.”

Lemon just got back on the air after taking some time off because of things he said about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley that were racist and ageist.
The news of Lemon’s leaving came soon after Fox News said it had fired Tucker Carlson, a popular and sometimes controversial host.
