May 16 is the date for local polls all over the state. Here are five important things to know.
How To Get Registered?
April 25 is the last day to sign up to vote in this election. Visit sos.oregon.gov or call 503-986-1518 to sign up or find out more.
You can always go to Oregonvotes.gov/MyVote to see if you are registered to vote.
Your Ballot Looks Like:
During elections in May of odd-numbered years, people are chosen to serve on school boards, fire, water, or transportation boards.
In the Willamette Valley, there will be candidates for Salem-Keizer Public Schools, Eugene 4J School District, Woodburn School District, Lane Community College, Chemeketa Community College, Keizer Fire District, and Willamalane Park and Recreation District.
In some places, voters will also think about calls for bonds and levies. For example, Eugene wants to pass a $26.6 million parks and recreation tax, and Lane County wants to keep a jail and youth services levy that is already in place.

When Will You Get Your Ballot?
All registered voters start getting ballots in the mail on April 26.
When/Where Must You Return Your Ballot?
Votes in Oregon must have a postmark by the day of the election.
On election day, ballots dropped off in an official drop box must be there by 8 p.m. Visit sos.oregon.gov/voting/pages/drop-box-locator.aspx to find the sites of drop boxes.
