Portland Teens Arrested for Attempted Murder and Weapon Stockpile

Two teens in Portland are charged with attempted murder and other crimes after police found them with multiple weapons, ammunition, and body armor after a shooting.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, the investigation started at 9:45 p.m. on February 7 when officers from the East Precinct were sent to the 8100 block of Southeast Knight Street in response to a report of shots fired. People who called 911 said they heard gunfire and thought someone might have been hit.

When the police arrived, they didn’t find anyone who was hurt. But they did find evidence of a shooting and located bullet holes in several cars that were not occupied. The Focused Intervention Team (FIT) and the Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) came to the crime scene to process it and take over the investigation.

At 5 a.m. on March 6, FIT, ECST, the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT), and East Metro SWAT all served search warrants simultaneously at two locations. This was part of the long-term investigation into the shooting. A 16-year-old boy and Tavon Wilson, who is 19, were taken into custody.

After getting search warrants, the teams found a Glock 19X 9mm, a Glock 19 with a fully automatic switch, a Ruger.380, a Walther PPQ 9mm, a Glock 22.40 caliber, a.223 upper receivers, 12 fully auto Glock switches, Rifle body armor, high-capacity magazines, and a lot of ammunition.

Portland Police also shared a press release tweet, which is given below-

Both suspects were charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, and using a weapon illegally. Wilson was taken to the Multnomah County Detention Center, and the child was born at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center.
