A 35-year-old man serving a sentence at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem died Saturday morning, 1 April 2023, of unknown causes, according to the state corrections department.
According to a press statement published by the state on Sunday afternoon, 2 April, 2023, it was said that Jesse Michael Banks “died away in the facility.” It said that the state medical examiner would determine the cause of Banks’ death, but it did not provide any information.
Jesse Michael Banks passed away early on Saturday morning in the Oregon State Prison, where he was incarcerated for assaulting a public safety officer and aggravated harassment. He was serving his sentence for the crimes.

According to the court records, Banks was sentenced to serve time in prison after entering a guilty plea in October 2022 to three counts of aggravated harassment and one count of assaulting a public safety officer for incidents in 2019 and 2020.
The incidents in question occurred in 2019 and 2020.

In 2018, Banks was found guilty of assaulting a public safety officer and other offenses, including robbery in the third degree. This was not the first time Banks had been convicted of a crime.
